Compatibility: Java MIDP 1.0

Description

Program helping you to remember the route.
It cab be route from conference room to coffee-room, it can be tourist trip, it can be pathway in labyrinth. during first traversal you make notes in you phone, specifying direction of movement and target of each step. Phone remembers how much time each steps takes. Then you can just inspect information about this trip and check duration of each stage and the whole trip. You can also replay it in forward and backward direction. So if somebody show you the shortest way to coffee machine, you can easily find the way back and can repeat this trip in future.

Description

  • The main menu of TripMate contains list of trips. Add new trip and specify its description. The program automatically switches to the mode of specifying the trip. In this mode you are adding trip points. For each point you should specify direction and optional description (target). When all steps are specified, choose Finish command to end the trip. It is possible to edit description and direction of each point, but it is not possible to add or remove new points to the trip. If you close application in enter trip mode, it will be in the same mode after restart. TripMate automatically calculate time of each stage (point time is set when you execute Enter command)
  • When trip is finished, you can view and edit trip points (List command) and relay trip in forward or backward direction (Navigation command). Navigation is performed using the same time scale. You can suspend/resume navigation or visa versa move current position to the next point. Navigation is perform in graphic or text mode. In graphic mode, TripMate shows movement of marker through the graph representing the route. In text mode, it shows description of next point, elapsed and left time for each step and the whole trip.
  • When navigation is suspended, current position cursor start rotation. When navigation is finished (last point is reached), arrow cursor is replaced with filled circle.

Maps | MobileMap

Last release: 30.04.2005
Compatibility:
1. Java MIDP 1.0
this midlet requires a lot of memory, so not all phones will be able to run it
2. Java MIDP 2.0 for version 2
Binaries:
Map of Moscow (rivers, navigation, MIDP 2.0) (378Kb)
Map of Moscow (MIDP 2.0) (112Kb)
Map of SantPetersburg (MIDP 1.0)(67Kb)
Map of SantPetersburg (MIDP 2.0)(168Kb)
Sources:
mobilemap-src.zip (MIDP 1.0) (1.6Mb)
mobilemap2-src.zip (MIDP 2.0) (4.4Mb)

Description

This is vector map of Moscow with more than 3000 streets and metro stations.
The vector map of almost any city in Polish format can be easily converted to be used by this application. Because of limits on jar file size and small screen resolution, number of layers is restricted.

Notes

  • You can use mobile cursor key to scroll the map in four main directions. You can also use digit keys to scroll the map and change scale. Keys are naturally mapped to the correspondent directions. Meaning of keys is explained in Help. '*' key can be used to zoom in and '#' - to zoom out. '0' - shows the view of the whole city and '5' - opens search dialogue.
  • To search street by name choose correspondent command or press '5' button. Then specify street prefix. The program will show list of all streets with such prefix or next 10 streets if streets with such prefix are not found. Then you can select particular street and it will be marked with pink color at the map.
  • Version 2.0 of the applications provides a lot of additional features. It is able to display objects of different types - point objects: theaters, banks, restaurants... and objects with arbitrary shape: river, lake, park, forest... The program allows to search objects by names, select it from a list of correspondent category, get information about the object pointed by cursor at the map. It is also possible to find shortest/fastest route between two points. This version use full screen mode, to display command list just press left command button of your phone.

Maps | MapBrowser

Last release: 29.04.2005
Compatibility: Java MIDP 1.0
Series 60 or 80 (with Symbian OS)
Binaries:
Map of Cairo, MIDP 1.0 version (2Mb)
Map of center of Brno (Czeck Republic), MIDP 2.0 version (0.5Mb)
Sources:
mapbrowser-src.zip (2.1Mb)
mapbrowser2-src.zip (1Mb)

Description Yet another map browser for mobile phone. Now it is working with raster map. Certainly size of raster map is significantly larger than of vector map. That is why this midlet has size more than 2Mb and works only at Series 60 phone. This midlet is just an example, with raster map of Cairo and with almost no index data. But it is possible to load ANY map in it and specifiy information about city objects (hotels, restaurants,...) including thier photos in XML format.

Notes

  • You can choose one of two scales - key '5' or Enter can be used to zoom-in or zoom out. When you perfrom zoom-in, rectangle box specifies selected area which will be shown at the screeen after zoom-in.
  • Cursor keys are use to perform fast navigation in specified direction
  • Numeric keys 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 are used for precise positioning in correspondent direction. When you press key for a long time, autorepat mode is activated.
  • Key '*' is used to iterate through selected objects and '#' - to get information about current object.
  • It is possible to change current language

Maps | OnlineMap

Last release: 02.03.2005
Compatibility: Java MIDP 1.0
(application requires large heap size, so if your phone has less than 1Mb limitation for midlet heap size, then most likely you will not be able to use this midlet)
Binaries:

onlinemap2.zip (MIDP 2.0)
Sources:
onlinemap-src.zip (MIDP 1.0) (140Kb)

Description

Yet another map browser for mobile phone.

Notes

  • OnlineMap used slightly different key mapping than MapBrowser: '*' key performs zoom-in, '#' - zoom-out. '5' allows to iterate through selected objects (if you select all objects of some category from the index). '0' or FIRE - get information about currently selected object.
  • When you select all objects from category, only those objects which present on the current screen will be marked. You can iterate through selected object on the screen using '5' key. If you scroll to some other screen, you can find out some other selected objects.
  • OnlineMap doesn't respond to the commands when map image is loaded.
  • It is possible to specify size of image cache. default cache size is 3 which allows to store all four images which in the worst case are present on the screen (last image is remembered in any case). If your application get OutOfMemory exception, you can try to decrease cache size. But it can significantly slow down movement of the cursor when it cross the boundary of two images.
